You're not supposed to use a Driver Sweeper at all. Just uninstall the drivers with their Remove tool, and install the new ones. Using Driver Sweepers can sometimes cause more issues than they fix. I didn't use a Driver Sweeper at all jumping from my HD4890 to my GTX470 + GT240 setup. I just uninstalled the old drivers, turned the machine off, swapped cards, rebooted, installed new drivers.
