Wiikey Fusion Gamecube

I decided to do a little gamecube modding. I bought myself a wiikey fusion so I can run game isos from a sd card since I hate optical drives.

For those who don't know the wiikey fusion is a modchip for the wii but it can be wired into a gamecube as well. The downside to the wiikey fusion is that it's a 'solderless' chip, meaning it connects to the wii by a tiny ffc ribbon cable using no soldering. With the gamecube you need to solder the wiikey in yourself. Soldering to the gamecube isn't a problem the solder spots for the dvd drive are through hole so they're big enough. The problem is the wiikey pcb only having connectors for teeny ribbon cables. I should have ordered a ribbon to dip adapter breakout board but an internet guide I stupidly followed made it look like soldering to the ribbon cable is easy enough to do.

My ribbon cable soldering worked for a bit, then failed when moved around because ribbons are weak and easy to break. My solution was probably the dumbest thing I've ever attempted: I removed the ribbon connector with a heatgun and hand soldered wires to the asic connections. In some spots this lifted the pads and made me scrape masking off the trace so I could solder to the trace instead. Passcape Crack Version. Surprisingly, it works perfectly.for a while, then it died when I moved it around again.

I redid the solder work, that mostly fixed it, then I redid it again and now everything works perfectly. Zemax Dongle Emulator more. Glued nicely into place (and smoothed the glue with a heatgun): It's alliiivvvveeee I took the dvd drive cover off temprarily while I give this thing some serious play testing before I decide where to install the sd card slot and the switch needed for the wiikey to activate. That's an interesting install, certainly has that unique post apocalyptic look to it.
